New wedding venue licence applications and renewals

Application to East Riding of Yorkshire Council to be licensed under the Marriage Act 1949 section 26 (1)(bb) and Civil Partnership Act 2004 as premises where civil marriage and civil partnership can take place.

The Marriages and Civil Partnerships (Approved Premises) Regulations 2005 state that the premises can be approved by the council if, in our opinion, and amongst other things:

  1. They are seemly and dignified and regularly available for civil marriages and civil partnerships.
  2. They have adequate fire precautions and other appropriate safety precautions.
  3. They have no recent, or continuing connection with any religion, which is incompatible with the use of the premises as a venue for civil marriages and civil partnerships.

How to object

Any person wishing to object to any application may only do so if the premises do not comply with the conditions required by these regulations of the council.
